TrueBeam STX Cancer Treatment

What is TrueBeam STx?
TrueBeam STx is an advanced linear accelerator and radiosurgery system used to treat cancer present anywhere in the body which is otherwise hard-to-reach. TrueBeam STx is a non-invasive alternative to conventional treatment.

Why is it done?
With the speed, precision and simplicity to accurately target tumors; TrueBeam STx is used to treat cancers in the brain, neck, spine, lung, liver, prostate and other areas that are typically difficult to treat through surgery.

What happens during the procedure?
During the treatment, the linear accelerator rotates around you to deliver the radiation. TrueBeam STx uses cutting-edge imaging technology to capture image of the tumour, even if it moves as you breathe. These images are used to ensure that the radiation beam is targeting the tumour and shape the radiation according to the tumour. Your doctor can actually see the tumour getting treated and target the tumour with submillimetre accuracy.

How long will it take?
Usually a complex radiosurgery takes around 30-60 minutes, however with TrueBeamSTx, a typical session takes around 5 – 20 minutes depending upon the diagnosis.

What happens after the procedure?
The treatment is done on out-patient basis; hence no overnight hospital stay is required. You can return to your normal routine. Follow your doctor’s advice. Your doctor will schedule further follow-up.
