Apollo Institute of Robotic Surgery

Robotic Surgery is fast gaining ground all over the world as the preferred mode of surgery. Apart from the clear advantages like higher patient comfort and safety, it also helps significantly cut down the length of stay at hospital. In keeping with its tradition of bringing the best and the latest in medical innovation to India, Apollo Hospitals has established the Apollo Institute of Robotic Surgery in collaboration with the Vattikuti Foundation of Michigan, USA. This multi-speciality, muliti-modality Institute will offer Robot Assisted Surgeries of world class standards at costs which are just a fraction of what is charged in hospitals in advanced nations.

Considering the benefits, we do expect a sizeable patient flow to the Institute right from the beginning. To ensure that we have enough quality manpower, we have planned for extensive sessions to train surgeons to perform simple to complex surgical procedures using the most advanced robotic systems.

State-of-the-art operating theatres are equipped with the Da Vinci Si surgical system, the most advanced platform for minimally invasive surgery available today. The four armed surgical robotic system is a breakthrough in surgical capabilities across the key specialties of Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Urology and Gynecology at Apollo Hospitals.

  • Cardiology
    • Total Endoscopic Coronary Artery Bypass
    • Single Vessel / Multi vessel Small Thoracotomy
  • Urology
    • Radical Prostatectomy
    • Cystectomy
    • Pyeloplasty
    • Uretero - calicostomy
    • Pelvic lymphadenectomy
  • Gynaecology
    • Hysterectomy
  • Nephrology
  • Neurology

Precision like never before!

Robotic surgical devices provide 3D high definition vision with up to ten times magnification and an immersive view of the surgical field through a tiny incision of 2 cm. Enhanced dexterity and greater accuracy make complex surgical maneuvers easier through smaller ports, minimizing patient trauma in confined spaces of the chest, abdomen or pelvis.

EndoWrist instruments, used in robotic surgery function with seven degrees of freedom for a range of motion far greater than the human hand, with reduction of hand tremor.

Comfort like never before!

This is the only system that allows surgeons to operate while seated, which may also be clinically advantageous. Better ergonomics than traditional open and laparoscopic surgery and a design that allows for natural hand-eye positioning, limiting the assistance required and reducing surgeon fatigue, improves surgical capabilities.

Robotic arms with added mechanical strength make a minimally invasive approach possible for patients with a high BMI.

Clinical outcomes like never before!

With focus on product training, clinical training and clinical education for integrated teams, both surgeons as well as operation theatre staff will be equipped to meet surgical demand, while achieving clinical proficiency in the safest, most efficient manner possible.

With comprehensive training programs and rigorous training standards, we are certain that the Robotic Surgery programme will redefine standards of medical care . The Apollo Institute of Robotic Surgery indeed has the potential to provide patients with clinical outcomes equal to or better than conventional surgery.

The Apollo Institute of Robotic Surgery is currently located at Apollo Hospitals Chennai, Gleneagles Apollo Hospitals Kolkata, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals Delhi and Apollo Health City, Hyderabad.
