On the occasion of World Kidney Day, Apollo Hospitals, Nashik arranged an Organ Donation Awareness Rally

Date: 9 Mar 17

The Chief Guest for the rally Mr. Ravindra Singhal, Commissioner of Police, Nashik addressed the gathering where he stated that organ donation is not only the need of the society but also a moral responsibility of each individual and thus we all should pledge for Organ Donation.

Maj Gen (Dr) Vijay Saraswat, Chief Operating Officer, Apollo Hospital, Nashik, said that in India, there are about 1, 60,000 patients waiting for cadaver transplant, majority of which are Kidney patients and only 5000 organs are transplanted each year. Hence, there is an urgent need to educate the public about 'Brain Death' and 'Organ Donation', so that precious lives can be saved.
