Posted by Apollo Hospitals | 09 May, 2017

Lifebox Foundation was founded in 2011 by the surgeon and writer, Dr. Atul Gawande. Their focus is to develop safer surgery work within India and Apollo Hospitals has played a vital role in supporting and promulgating their work. Dr. Atul Gawande, MD, MPH – Lifebox Chairman said “Through our Safer Surgery India project, Lifebox plays a vital role in strengthening professional ties between continents, regions, healthcare providers and their patients – ultimately safeguarding thousands of lives. On a personal level, it gives me the opportunity to support and serve an extraordinary country that means so much to my family. Together we’re going to make a lifelong – and life-saving – difference.”

In the coming months, the team would be looking at making further inroads into surgical and anaesthesia safety within rural areas in Southern India.
