Apollo Pharmacy and Apollo Hospitals Educational and Research Foundation (AHERF) come together to supply free medicines to old age homes

Apollo Pharmacy and AHERF recently launched their project to supply free medicines to old age homes. 15 old age homes from Chennai will benefit from this project and receive free medicines for a year. With the support of Apollo Pharmacy, AHERF would take the responsibility of providing medicines to old age homes in and around Chennai. Apollo’s CSR coordinators will closely work with the pharmacy for the distribution of medicines and accountability and will visit these homes twice a month for feedback or scope for improving the activities.

These 15 old age homes were selected on the response to a survey conducted to get views on parameters such as number of inmates, facilities available, funding assistance available, assistance required for providing medicines, health check up, emergency admissions, consultant referrals, health screening camps, need for healthcare consumables and accessories.etc.

On the occasion, Ms.Shobana Kamineni, Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Group said, “At Apollo Hospitals, it has always been our motto to make healthcare accessible to all. Apart from our business operations responsibilities, we believe we must contribute to the society, enhance our communities and positively impact the people we serve. The time and efforts spent by both the teams in gathering data to help identify the most needy is indeed commendable.”

This initiative would subsequently be expanded to other cities and towns, starting with Delhi where 16 old age homes with over 990 inmates will benefit through this project.
