Surgical care and clinical work

Over years   there  has   been  tremendous   Increase  m    the  expertise  and experience in operating complex cases.

I evolved in   several aspects of the surgical care , surgical case

selection, early anticipation of complications  more importantly significant reduction of the mortality and morbidity

I performed more than 80  cases of  intracranial ruptured aneurysms,  100

vestibular schwannomas and several complex skull base lesions

With  experience,  I  am  able  to   operate  many  cases  in   minimally  invasive manner with smaller incisions. A step towards same is COIN craniectomy for trigeminal neuralgias- a small INDIAN ONE RUPEE COIN  size  craniotomy  for MVD

Retractor less surgery-another new concept in which surgery is performed without use  of  permanent  retractors,  has  become a  routine for   operating colloid cysts, vestibular schwannomas ,medulloblastomas and  extra  dural clinoidectomy etc. This concept I tried to  publish which is under  peer review in JNS

To acquire the expertise in the skull base surgery, I did  clinical fellowship at Osaka city  university,Osaka Japan under Dr  Kenji Ohata for  3 months . The fellowship gave me  an opportunity to  observe masters in  skull base surgery closely and interact with them

I became more confident in performing the complex skull base surgeries like petrosectomies,  far   lateral approach etc which needs more precision and understanding of surgical anatomy

My ability to  talk and convince the patients has increased which is reflected in increase in many personal referrals to  me

Teaching

Over the last 5 yrs, I am invited as external examiner for basic and final year Mch examinations, both by state medical colleges and reputed institutes such as CMC  vellore,NIMS Hyderabad. I am also invited by DNB for basic and final examinations

In several meetings, I am fortunate to get the opportunity to chair sessions, to decide for award posters and papers and to deliver guest lectures.

I am able to participate as faculty in  NSI  instructional course and invited for taking grand rounds for  students

Academics and research

In the limited time available for research, I could publish 40 research papers in various areas of neurosurgery

I am a part of international STITCH trauma trial which was funded by NHS

trust

I   have one patent   to    my    credit on    developing an integrated wearable physiotherapy device to assist upper limb for post stroke patients;

TIFAC refer: .1. (40)/TIFA/2016

I guided several Phd(3) and Mch(5) students for  their research works

Administration and corporate activity

For   routine management of gamma knife patients, I made a GKRS screening PROFORMA which is routinely used in   OPD. This has streamlined several lacunae

The   systematic way of entering the follow   up data of the patients is very important for   making good research   work.     In   the available e   hospital software this is not available.

I   made several user   friendly “follow up   proformas” for   various routine neurosurgical disorders in digital format so   that all   follow up data of the patients is digitalized.

I am elected as vice president for the NIMHANS faculty association for 2 yrs.

I was hunting for a good dentist for quite some time. Since my earlier experience was not so good. So I was very much skeptical for trusting a new doctor again. I found Dr Meeka on Practo and gone through the reviews that were amazing and very positive. So to gave it a try, I went to her. In my first meeting only I was very much sure that my search had just ended here, not just for this treatment but for a lifetime now. She is very patient and will explain everything in detail to ensure that you are equally knowledgeable and satisfied I was hunting for a good dentist for quite some time.
