Dr. Ishani Mohapatra is a Consultant Histopathology and former Lab Head at Health City, Cayman Islands, with extensive tertiary-care pathology experience and specialized expertise in Neuropathology. She completed her MBBS and MD Pathology from Utkal University/SCB Medical College, Cuttack, followed by a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Neuropathology at NIMHANS, Bengaluru.
She worked at Medanta The Medicity, Gurgaon from 2009 to 2023, progressing from Attending Consultant to Associate Consultant, Consultant and Senior Consultant. She led Neuropathology and established/standardized services including neuromuscular and neuro-oncology laboratory work, muscle histochemistry, nerve and brain biopsy special stains, frozen sections, prognostic immunohistochemistry, and molecular neuro-oncology including FISH, NGS and RT-PCR.
Her academic work includes teaching DNB trainees across pathology, neurology, radiology, radiation oncology and neurosurgery, guiding and co-guiding 13 thesis topics, conducting multidisciplinary academic meetings and participating as faculty/speaker at national and international conferences. She has multiple original publications, a book chapter, conference presentations and peer-review experience in neurosciences.
She has also contributed to laboratory quality programmes, including SOP development and implementation aligned with NABL, NABH and JCI standards, staff training, and laboratory standardization.
