The Department of ENT (Otorhinolaryngology) at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad is one of the leading centres in the country providing comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. The Department is known for providing clinical excellence and compassionate care to patients from around the world. We provide care for patients with a variety of problems including general ear, nose, throat, thyroid disorders, hearing disorders, snoring and sleep apnoea, balance and vertigo disorder, ENT allergy problems, salivary gland diseases and voice disorders. Our Multidisciplinary team approach towards head and neck disorders and oncology, temporal bone tumors, Sino-nasal and skull base tumors has been widely appreciated.
ENT department of Apollo hospital, jubilee hills, Hyderabad was the first in south India to start Cochlear Implant Clinic, which was established in the year 1994. With more than 1600 implantations performed since 1994, our Cochlear Implant Program has grown to be one of the largest Paediatric implant programs in India and South Asia. Our Cochlear Implant team also holds a striking record of the maximum number of 18 cochlear implant surgeries operated on a single day, performed in the year 2008 and has entered into Limca book of records. Dr E C Vinay Kumar, who heads the ENT department, played a key role in bringing free cochlear implant surgery under the Rajiv Aarogyasree community health Insurance scheme in the erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh. This has laid the precedence to start such similar government schemes which have funded free cochlear implant surgeries in other parts of the country.
Our department was the foremost in the country to establish asleep and snoring clinic. With vast experience in this sub-speciality, we offer broad diagnostic modalities and treating people with sleep disorders. Our center for balance and dizziness is equipped with state of the art facilities for the diagnosis of disorders related to balance/ vertigo/ equilibrium. The interdisciplinary approach draws on expert opinion with related specialities to treat complex cases. To help people with allergic conditions, the ENT department at Apollo hospital has established an immunology clinic with a dedicated team that offers skin prick testing for numerous allergens followed by customized immunotherapy.
Academics form an integral part of any health care institution and is judged by the quality of training & implementation. In accordance with the national board of examinations post-graduation education program, Apollo hospital is accredited with two DNB seats for ENT. It includes one seat for primary and one for secondary/post DLO.
