Strength Support Survival

Menopausal Health

Cancer treatment can bring on early or sudden menopause, especially in women undergoing chemotherapy, hormone therapy, or ovarian surgery. This abrupt hormonal shift can lead to a wide range of physical and emotional changes — from hot flashes and vaginal dryness to sleep disturbances, bone loss, mood swings, and sexual health concerns.

At Apollo Athenaa Women’s Cancer Centre, menopausal health is not treated as an afterthought; it is a core part of our supportive care philosophy. We address the real, everyday impact that menopause has on women during and after cancer treatment.

Support During Treatment

Many cancer treatments can induce temporary or permanent menopause. Our team provides:

  • Baseline hormone assessments to track changes in estrogen and related markers
  • Symptom tracking and management to minimise discomfort during treatment
  • Counselling and education to help women understand what to expect and how to cope
  • Collaboration with your oncology team to safely manage menopause without interfering with treatment

We offer both non-hormonal and, where appropriate, hormone based  options to ease symptoms, always with safety as the priority.

Post-Treatment & Survivorship Care

Even after active treatment ends, menopausal symptoms can persist or worsen. Our survivorship program includes:

  • Personalised menopause management plans, including medications, vaginal moisturisers, and safe non-hormonal alternatives
  • Sexual health counselling to address vaginal dryness, libido changes, and discomfort
  • Sleep and mood support, including referrals to psycho-oncology if needed
  • Close monitoring of heart and bone health, which can be affected by estrogen loss
  • Integration with our nutrition, physiotherapy, and dermatology teams to manage weight gain, skin changes, or fatigue

We also coordinate care with endocrinologists and gynaecologists for long-term support.

Care Designed for Women

Menopause is a uniquely female experience and when brought on by cancer treatment, it can feel especially overwhelming. At Apollo Athenaa, we create a safe, stigma-free space where women can talk openly, ask questions, and receive holistic care that honours their changing bodies. Whether you are in your 20s or 50s, managing menopausal symptoms is part of protecting your overall well-being, relationships, and quality of life.
