Onco-Fertility Preservation
A cancer diagnosis can feel like it puts life on hold, especially for younger women who hope to start or grow a family. At Apollo Athenaa Women’s Cancer Centre, we believe women shouldn’t have to choose between life-saving treatment and future parenthood. Our onco-fertility services are designed to protect a woman’s fertility without compromising her cancer care.
Support During Treatment
Before starting cancer treatment, patients meet with a dedicated fertility specialist to discuss:
- Fertility risks of planned treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery
- Ovarian function preservation options, such as gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) therapy
- Egg or embryo cryopreservation, where eggs or fertilised embryos are retrieved and frozen
- Ovarian tissue preservation in select cases, especially for prepubescent girls
Our fertility counsellors ensure every woman understands her options and has the support she needs to make informed decisions quickly, as many procedures must be completed before cancer therapy begins.
Post-Treatment & Survivorship Care
Even after treatment, the fertility journey continues:
- Hormonal monitoring and ovarian reserve testing to assess reproductive potential
- Counselling on safe conception timelines after cancer therapy
- Management of early menopause or diminished ovarian reserve, often triggered by treatment
- Fertility care for cancer survivors who have undergone preservation procedures and are now ready to plan pregnancy
Survivors are guided with sensitivity and clinical expertise to help them pursue motherhood safely and confidently.
