Strength Support Survival

Palliative Care

Palliative care is often misunderstood as end-of-life care — but at Apollo Athenaa Women’s Cancer Centre, it is much more. It is about improving quality of life, relieving pain, easing distress, and helping women live with dignity at every stage of their cancer journey. Whether a woman is newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, or living with advanced disease, palliative care offers comfort, clarity, and control.

Support During Treatment

Palliative care can begin as early as diagnosis and works alongside curative treatments. Our team provides:

  • Symptom management, including relief from pain, nausea, fatigue, breathlessness, or bowel disturbances
  • Support for treatment-related side effects, such as mucositis, neuropathy, or insomnia
  • Emotional and psychological care, helping women cope with fear, anxiety, or depression
  • Family support, including guidance for caregivers and children navigating a loved one’s illness

This integrated support can reduce hospital visits, improve treatment tolerance, and help patients maintain independence.

Post-Treatment & Survivorship Care

For women with chronic or advanced cancer, survivorship can come with new challenges. Palliative care continues to provide:

  • Long-term pain control for metastatic disease or post-surgical discomfort
  • Nutritional and rehabilitative support for maintaining strength and function
  • Psychosocial support for families, especially those caring for women with recurrent disease
  • Advanced care planning, helping patients make informed choices about future treatments
  • End-of-life care, when appropriate, delivered with compassion, respect, and the comfort of home when possible

Patients and families are never left to navigate this phase alone.

At Apollo Athenaa, palliative care is not just about managing illness, it’s about preserving womanhood. Our women-focused approach ensures that emotional well-being, body image, intimacy, and family life are treated as part of the healing journey.
