Treatment for this rare cancer greatly depends on the stage it has been diagnosed. However, the most common and effective treatment option is surgery. This may be accompanied by chemotherapy, radiation or both.
Benign tumors of the stomach and duodenum are not common.
- Quit smoking

- Avoid red meat, smoked and salted food
There is currently no known way to prevent duodenal cancer. However, you can reduce your risk by modifying your lifestyle.
Although most small intestine cancers occur without a hereditary origin, there are some inherited conditions that may increase your risk.
If the duodenum is removed the stomach is unable to retain food long enough for partial digestion and absorption, leading to anemia and osteoporosis.
