Stomach Cancer


Stomach cancer occurs when there is an abnormal growth of cells in the stomach. These abnormal cells accumulate, forming a tumor in the stomach that can metastasize (spread) to other parts of the body

Risk Factors

While the cause of stomach cancer is uncertain, various factors can increase the risk of developing the disease. These risk factors can include:

  • Tobacco use

Signs and Symptoms

The symptoms of stomach cancer are often nonspecific in early cancers. Some symptoms that may occur are:


  • Endoscopy and Biopsy:
    Upper GI endoscopy to look for signs of cancer. If any lesion is found, the tissue sample is collected for pathology evaluation (biopsy).
