Apollo Cancer Centres Introduces the world's first and only non-invasive whole body
radiosurgery system, CyberKnife in India
Features
CyberKnife system is a non-invasive robotic radio-surgery modality
used for treating tumours
anywhere in the body.
Continual image guidance technology and robotic mobility tracking
detects and corrects the
tumour position and patient movement during treatment.
The linear accelerator designed for conventional radiotherapy are
modified by incorporating
improved guiding (stereotactic devices) and methods to improve the
accuracy of treatment.
The CyberKnife combines a miniaturized LINAC mounted on an
industrial robot (with 6 degrees of
freedom) with a system for X-ray tracking system.
The CyberKnife uses multiple fixed beams that target the tumour with 360
degree movement
around the 6-D couch
