Apollo Hospitals, Chennai has successfully performed Tamil Nadu’s Fast Track Total Knee Replacement surgery on a 66-year-old female patient who was diagnosed with severe Grade 4 Osteoarthritis of Knee Joint with associated deformity. Dr. Madhan Thiruvengada, Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai and his team successfully completed this first-of-its-kind procedure and were able to mobilise the patient within 3 hours of surgery.

In a first of its kind, the procedure to remove calcium from heart blood vessels was performed at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai using a new technology called Orbital Atherectomy. Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, has successfully performed a robotic head-and-neck surgery on a 49-year-old female patient to remove a large tumour of 8cm size on her salivary gland without any visible scar on her neck, a first of its kind in the country. The surgery was performed by Dr Venkat Karthikeyan C, Clinical Lead Robotic ENT – Head and Neck Oncology at Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, Chennai which has also successfully completed 125 such surgeries.
