How much zinc should I take for coronavirus?

Published On February 18, 2025

There have been some studies that say that zinc did have a mild effect in shortening duration of the common cold.  But there’s no conclusive information about zinc and this particular Coronavirus.

Supplementing with zinc might help protect against respiratory tract infections and also reduce the duration of these infections. The daily dose is about 40-mg of elemental zinc.

However, there is no hard evidence to support an argument that zinc can protect against, prevent and/or treat of Coronavirus. More evidence is required before we can count on zinc as a means of COVID-19 prevention or protection. We do not recommend self-medication with any drugs, including antibiotics, as a prevention or cure for COVID-19.
