    FAQ's

In most cases, symptoms depend on the type of cancer and may not appear until the cancer is advanced. Common symptoms may include the presence of blood in the urine, abdominal/back pain, changes in sexual function, trouble with urination, lesions on the penis or swelling in the testicular region, unexplained weight loss, and increased fatigue.

The usual pathway for diagnosis includes a comprehensive review of your symptoms, followed by undergoing screening tests and imaging. These can include urine tests, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), bone scans, and cystoscopy with or without biopsy. Results are obtained, and staging and grading are done if the tumour is present. Based on the tumour characteristics, treatment plans are discussed.

The success rate of any cancer treatment is based on factors like tumour characteristics, patient factors, type of treatment, etc. In most cases, surgery is the first-line treatment for early cancers. The probability of cure is very high in testicular cancer and in renal tumours. With the advancement of treatment options in prostate cancer, even when patients present with fourth-stage disease currently, we can ensure a lifespan almost nearing a decade. In advanced cases, surgery is often combined with other treatment options like radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, etc., based on patient needs. At Apollo Cancer Centre we have the largest oncology team with a multidisciplinary approach towards holistically treating a patient both in the diagnostic, treatment and in the follow-up to ensure optimal outcomes for every patient.
