The Department of Urology at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderguda, holds global recognition for its expertise in managing lower urinary tract dysfunction. It serves as a premier referral centre for complex issues in this field and is internationally renowned for its extensive use of video-urodynamics. The department excels in treating complex renal stones with advanced techniques like RIRS, Percutaneous, Prostate, and Laser surgeries. Our faculty pioneered surgery for stress incontinence in India, performing the first minimally invasive slings in 2001. They are national leaders in Sacral Neuromodulation and Botulinum Toxin Therapy for challenging conditions such as refractory overactive bladder and voiding dysfunction.

Additionally, our Urology Department is a forefront provider of Ejaculation Sparing Bladder Neck Incision for young men with primary bladder neck obstruction and specialises in surgery for female urethral stricture. They also offer cutting-edge pelvic floor rehabilitation using the state-of-the-art Urostym (Laborie) pelvic floor therapy unit. As the sole national centre offering a comprehensive range of functional lower urinary tract evaluations and treatments, including urodynamics, video-urodynamics, and urethral pressure profiles, they are a leader in their field.

The department’s rigorous clinical work is supported by strong research efforts and international recognition. Our faculty co-authored the 2023 global standardisation document for urodynamics, published by both the International Continence Society and the Society for Female Urology and Urodynamics in two leading journals. In the past year, the department produced 18 peer-reviewed articles in top international journals.

Our faculty serves as the Founding Chairman for the National Functional and Female Urology Section of the Urological Society of India (2023-2025) and contributed a chapter to the globally recognised textbook, 7th International Consultation on Urinary Incontinence. Depending on your results, treatment plans and goals are drafted and discussed.

You may have to consult a urologist if you have trouble or notice any changes in frequency while urinating, difficulty getting an erection, pelvic pain, infertility, a feeling of heaviness or something falling down into your vagina, or urinating in unwanted situations, like when you sneeze, laugh, or at night.

You need to bring all your medical records, including a full list of your medications, imaging reports, and insurance papers. Our administrative team will assist you in filling out registration forms and compiling the necessary reports.
