Stenting of Coarctation of Aorta was performed on a 23-year-old female patient diagnosed with acyanotic congenital heart disease
About the patient
The 23-year-old young woman presented with hypertension at this young age and chronic fatigue. She was further diagnosed as a case of acyanotic congenital heart disease.
Case scenario
On evaluation clinically and through the 2D ECHO and Doppler studies, the diagnosis of acyanotic congenital heart disease – Coarctation of Aorta (post ductal) was confirmed. CT angiography was done for detailed structural evaluation. Stenting of Coarctation of Aorta was carried out through right femoral approach under light anesthesia successfully. The pre-procedure peak systolic gradient was 64 mm of Hg; which dropped to zero post procedure. The procedure was successful. She had no residual hypertension.
