Heart disease before the age of 80 is not God’s will but due to our own faults. Rejuvenation therapy can help you combat it. According to Ayurveda, a holistic approach to heart health requires you to nourish the emotional heart as well as the physical heart. The heart is not just a pump – it is the fountainhead of all emotions, whether it is joy and exhilaration or sadness and frustration.

Mental and emotional stresses disrupt the emotional heart. Ayurveda not just describes heart diseases and their treatment; it also talks about the heart at various stages in life.

Heart during pregnancy

Pregnant women are called douhrida (possessing two hearts). The fetal heart is attached to the mother’s heart via channels and expresses its longings through the mother! In other words, the desires expressed belong to the fetus and not to the mother – and these desires also describe some of the characters of the child. These specific longings are seen during the third and fourth months of pregnancy.

Adolescent heart

This transition from childhood to adulthood involves biological (i.e. pubertal), social, and psychological changes. These Ayurveda tips can help teens have a balanced mind, and a healthy heart.

  • Avoid meat, egg, deep fried foods
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Avoid smoking and passive smoking
  • Avoid excessive medication
  • Avoid mental strain and remain relaxed
  • Avoid day-time sleep
  • Practice regular exercise, jogging or brisk-walking
  • Keep heart and other marmas (vital parts) away from stress and strain
  • Have oil massage and head-bath, with a gap of one hour (to energize the heart and the blood vessels

The middle-aged heart

Middle-age is the period of life beyond young adulthood, before the onset of old age. Physical fitness usually wanes, with a five to 10 kg accumulation of body fat, reduction in aerobic performance and a decrease in maximal heart rate. Strength and flexibility also decrease throughout middle-age. Rejuvenation therapy would be a good answer to the problems of these years

Rasayana chikitsa

Ayurveda describes a specific therapy called rasayana chikitsa or rejuvenation therapy. Rejuvenation literally means to return to youthful conditions or to the normal, from the diseased state. This therapy helps to promote and preserve health.

Rasayana chikitsa enhances one’s energy and is even known to have cured the sick. These tonics also increase a healthy person’s mental and physical capabilities. Rasayanas are known to improve skin complexion and texture, modulate the voice and increase sensing capacity of the sense organs. They replenish the vital fluids of our body, thus keeping us away from diseases. Taking rasayana is helpful to increase the immunity of the person, to keep him away from the dreadful heart diseases.
