  • 1980 – 1990: Apollo Hospitals opens its doors in Chennai in 1983 Medical insurance scheme is introduced Apollo Hospitals arrives in Hyderabad.
  • 1991 – 2000: Apollo Hospitals arrives in Delhi, Madurai and Visakhapatnam, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai awarded the ISO 9002 Certification.
  • 2000 – 2005: Apollo Hospitals, Delhi first in India to get JCI Accredited, Apollo Hospitals opens in Bilaspur, Mysore, Ahmedabad and Kolkata, Launches Nationwide Emergency Number 1066
  • 2006 – 2008: Apollo Hospitals is now in Bangalore, Apollo Hospitals features in the world’s top 50 local dynamos list, according to a new study by Boston Consulting Group, Apollo Hospitals, Bangalore becomes the 6th Apollo facility to receive accreditation from JCI, USA, launch of nursing stations at select pharmacies across the country.
  • 2009 – 2010: CyberKnife® launches at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai. Novalis TX launches at Apollo Hospitals, Delhi Govt. of India releases a postage stamp felicitating Apollo Hospitals’ pioneering spirit.
  • 2011 – 2012: Apollo is the world’s second busiest solid organ transplant centre. Apollo Hospitals performs more than 130,000 cardiac surgeries. Introduces Renaissance Robotic Technology to the Asia-Pacific.
  • 2013 – 2014: Ischiopygopagus twins are separated, Thoraco-omphalopagus conjoined twins are separated. Apollo Cancer Hospital inaugurated in Bilaspur; Postage stamp celebrates the 15thanniversary of India’s 1st successful liver transplant performed at Apollo Hospitals.
  • 2015 – 2016: Apollo Speciality Hospital, OMR launches Launch of AskApollo. Launch of Apollo Diagnostics Apollo Hospitals, Ahmedabad accredited by JCI. Apollo Medical College launches.
  • 2017 – 2018: Apollo Hospitals performs over 1500 bone marrow transplants. Achieves 500 DNB seats.
  • 2019 – 2020: Apollo becomes the first to implant the world’s largest artificial pulmonary valve without surgery. Apollo Hospitals is honoured with a postage stamp for completing 20 million health checks and 36 years of healthcare excellence. Launch of Apollo ProHealth Apollo Proton Cancer Centre (APCC) receives JCI accreditation. Launch of Project Kavach and Apollo 24|7. Apollo Education, UK(AEUK) is started.
  • 2021 – 2022: Apollo Hospitals joins the national COVID vaccination programme. Over 8 million vaccinations delivered to date. Apollo Sage hospitals joins the group. Apollo EXCELCARE hospital joins the group.

  • The first and the world’s largest Artificial Pulmonary Valve (32mm) was implanted without surgery by a team of doctors at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.
  • The first-ever Transfemoral Pulmonary Valve Implantation using an Indian-made valve, MYVAL, was performed by Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.
  • Asia’s first simultaneous Kidney-Pancreas Transplant was performed on a 38-year-old patient by Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.
  • India’s first successful combined cardiac and tracheal surgery was performed on a 11-month-old baby from Oman by Apollo Children’s Hospital, Chennai.
  • India’s first Total Marrow Irradiation Procedure was performed on a 35-year-old patient from Oman by Apollo Proton Cancer Centre, Chennai.
  • Apollo Hospitals, Chennai successfully performed the first simultaneous Liver-Intestine-Pancreas transplant in India.
  • Largest series of aortic valve replacement with stentless heart valve bioprosthesis performed.

  • First American underwent a successful heart transplant at Chennai’s Apollo Hospitals and he was also the oldest person to undergo a heart transplant in the country.
  • World’s 1st iPod Navigation Hip Resurfacing Surgery was successfully performed at Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Chennai.
  • Apollo Hospitals, Chennai performed a double-lung transplantation for Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome (HPS) genetic condition which was the first case in India and second in the world. HPS results from mutations in one of seven different genes.
  • Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, performed the first coronary angioplasty in India using absorb fully absorbable stent-bioresorbable vascular scaffold (absorb-BVS) — 2012.
  • In 1995, Apollo Hospitals performed its first Bone Marrow Transplantation, as well as the first multi-organ transplant in the country.
  • Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi completed over 500 liver transplants in February, 2011.
