Why are women at risk of cancer?
Women can be at risk for cancer due to a combination of factors including an increasing age, certain genetic mutations, a family history of certain cancers, hormonal disturbances during menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause, unhealthy lifestyle habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, poor diet, lack of physical activity, and exposure to certain harmful chemicals, Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and environmental factors.
How to reduce your risk of gynecological cancers?
Early detection and treatment of gynecological cancers is essential for improving survival rates. Cervical cancer can be prevented through regular screening with the Pap smear test. Ovarian cancer and endometrial cancer do not have any screening tests, but early detection can be achieved through regular pelvic exams and ultrasounds.
