Apollo Hospitals to rende Apollo Hospitals observes World Heart Rhythm Weekr specialist health services to Tanzania (2)

Apollo Hospitals conducts free consultation for people suffering from Cardiac Arrhythmia from June 6 to June 12, 2011. Cardiac Arrhythmia, or an abnormal heartbeat, is a serious but treatable condition that has affected roughly 8 million Indians in a short period. Hence, Apollo Hospitals feels that free, simple and routine pulse checks would help to save thousands from death or disability resulting from heart rhythm disorders. Apollo’s Heart Rhythm Week is intended to create awareness and promote better understanding of arrhythmic conditions.

Arrhythmias occur when the electrical impulses in the heart, which coordinate the heartbeats don’t function properly, causing the heart to beat too fast, too slow or irregularly. These cardiac rhythm disturbances can occur because of age, hypertension, heart attack, lung and thyroid disease and heart failure etc. Palpitation, dizziness, fatigue, fainting are few of the common symptoms.

Detecting arrhythmias at the early stages could improve a patient’s chance of finding a successful treatment and could save their life. Hence, Apollo is dedicating an entire week for free pulse & BP check and consultation to ensure people to know their pulse and be aware of cardiac arrhythmia.

Cardiac arrhythmia can be treated effectively, through drugs, devices, Radiofrequency catheter ablation procedure or a combination of all the three. Apollo Hospitals is one of the few hospitals in India to have most advanced 3D mapping technology [CARTO 3 system]. This technology helps to pin point the site of origin of rhythm disturbances and accurately deliver the Radio frequency energy. Apollo uses this technology to cure complex and life threatening arrhythmias with high success rate.

Apollo’s Heart Rhythm Week runs from 6 to 12 June 2011. Apollo’s renowned cardiologist & Electrophysiologist, Dr. Karthigesan will do free consultations and pulse checks from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm, the entire week. Apollo’s Heart Rhythm week not only concentrates on creating awareness by free consultations but also aims to build confidence in the affected on the treatments available to curb the disease.
