Apollo Life Style Disease Training Program (ALDTP)

India is faced with a triple burden of existing communicable diseases, emerging new infectious and non - communicable diseases (NCDs). NCDs like diabetes, heart disease and cancer of epidemic proportions, present the greatest challenge.

Heart disease is the second largest killer in India. There are 67 million confirmed diabetics in India and 30 million in pre-diabetic stage. By 2030, India will have the largest number of diabetic patients and may well become the capital of diabetic patients in world.

NCDs are estimated to account for nearly 75% of all deaths. Low-and middle-income countries like India share a disproportionate 80% of the NCD mortality burden. This high burden poses a substantial threat to India’s socioeconomic development.

The benefit from effective NCD control could be enormous. Beyond the individual who will be leading a healthier and more productive life, the country stands to gain significant economic upside. With the right interventions, India could potentially reverse most of the economic losses it stands to bear if the NCD epidemic grows unchecked.

Apollo Hospitals recognises the increasing load of lifestyle diseases in the community and it is committed to address the issues related to it. Apollo Hospitals has drawn a road map and launched a program "Live Healthy, India" to combat these challenges. Under this program, Apollo Lifestyle Disease Training Program (ALDTP) has been started to upskill GPs, doctors working in nursing homes, corporates and other community physicians in remote areas.
