The Chief Guest for the rally Mr. Ravindra Singhal, Commissioner of Police, Nashik addressed the gathering where he stated that organ donation is not only the need of the society but also a moral responsibility of each individual and thus we all should pledge for Organ Donation.

Maj Gen (Dr) Vijay Saraswat, Chief Operating Officer, Apollo Hospital, Nashik, said that in India, there are about 1, 60,000 patients waiting for cadaver transplant, majority of which are Kidney patients and only 5000 organs are transplanted each year. During waiting period, patient is maintained by Haemodialysis, which is costly and inconvenient for the patient. Hence, there is an urgent need to educate the public about ‘Brain Death’ and ‘Organ Donation’, so that precious lives can be saved.

The Organ Donation Rally was a grand success with a participation of more than 700 people from various organizations like Rotary Club, NIMA, Panchavati Medical Association, Family Physicians Association, Indian Medical Association, Medical Practitioner’s Association Nashik Road, Unique Group, Lions Club, MGV College of Pharmacy, MVP Samaj, Senior Citizen’s Club, Nashik Medico Association, Ganpatrao Adke Nursing College, KK Wagh Nursing College, MVP Pharmacy College, Panchavati Pharmacy College, H.F.P.T.C, Civil Hospital, Maharashtra Police etc. Not only this, number of participants filled the organ donation forms at the event and became proud organ donors too.
