Genomics Education Goes Global: Apollo Knowledge & SRIHER Launch Advanced Certification in Genomics

Apollo Knowledge, a leader in global healthcare training and workforce development, has launched a one-year, full-time Advanced Certification in Genomics (ACG) program in collaboration with the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) in Chennai. The initiative marks a major milestone for Apollo’s Global Workforce Development (GWD) program, which is designed to build a strong pipeline of genomics-trained clinical scientists for international healthcare systems.

Launched in August 2025, the ACG program currently hosts 37 postgraduate students (M.Sc./M.Tech.) from diverse life sciences backgrounds. Modelled on the NHS England curriculum, it offers comprehensive learning in genetic testing, cancer genomics, bioinformatics and genetic counselling, supported by advanced laboratory and clinical exposure. In addition to scientific training, learners receive English language coaching, soft-skills development, and interview preparation to support international mobility.

The program was formally inaugurated on 18 November 2025 in the presence of senior leaders from SRIHER, Apollo Knowledge and experts associated with the NHS. During the event, Prof. Dame Sue Hill, Chief Scientific Officer for England and the Head of Profession for healthcare science workforce in the NHS and associated bodies, highlighted that the partnership showcases how countries can work together to build the skilled workforce needed to advance genomic medicine.

Mr Sivaramakrishnan Venkateswaran, CEO of Apollo Knowledge, emphasised that the collaboration strengthens Apollo Knowledge’s mission under its Global Workforce Development (GWD) initiative — equipping healthcare professionals with advanced technical, language and soft skills to pursue international careers, in line with India’s ‘Heal by India’ vision.
