Apollo Hospitals, Chennai successfully performed Kidney Transplants on two patients from Mauritius with end-stage kidney disease.
During the ongoing pandemic, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai successfully performed Kidney Transplants on Mrs. Sounita Soomaroo, 45-year-old and Mr. Guneshan Munisamy, 58-year-old being referred by The Ministry of Health, Mauritius. They reached Chennai in the beginning of March 2020 just before the first lockdown, but the extended lockdown in the city had kept them waiting. However, the clinical team under Dr. Saravanan, Nephrologist and Dr. Deepak Raghavan, Transplant Surgeon at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai ensured continuous care and with necessary permission from the State Government, both the patients underwent the transplant surgery in the first week of June.
