Ms. Shobana Kamineni
Executive Director - New Initiatives, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited

A member of the founding family, Shobana Kamineni imbibed greatly from the visionary genius of her father - the legendary Founder Chairman of Apollo Hospitals, Dr Prathap C Reddy. She had formally joined Apollo Hospitals in 1982 as a liaison and project executive. Her instinctive expertise at this role was instrumental in catalyzing several of Apollo's ambitious projects, right from the early days.

In less than three decades Apollo Hospitals has grown to become the bedrock of India's healthcare revolution. An institution of trust and clinical excellence. Today Apollo touches and impacts millions of lives across 120 countries. Shobana Kamineni has played a pivotal role in ensuring that Apollo enjoys a position of strength and leadership at all touch points of the healthcare spectrum. As Executive Director - New Initiatives she is not only involved in visualizing the project blueprint but also execution of these mega projects, down to the last detail.

Ms. Shobana Kamineni spearheads Apollo Pharmacy - India's largest pharma retailer. With over 1500 pharmacies across India, Apollo Pharmacy is the fastest growing company in the Group. In 2008 she headed Apollo's foray into Health Insurance (Apollo Munich Health Insurance in collaboration with Munich Re). Today Apollo Munich Health Insurance is a recognized leader in products and services in this highly evolving space.

Cognizant of the need to create healthcare of the future, Shobana Kamineni nurtured Apollo Health Education and Research Foundation's emergence as a milestone institution in clinical research in the region. AHERF currently has collaborations with world leaders in cutting edge research from Stem cells, Phase 1 trials, Molecular Biology to Translational Research.

As an active member of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Ms. Kamineni was the Chairperson of CII (Southern Region), Chairperson CII-AP. She has also on earlier occasions chaired the CII National Committee on Entrepreneurship and continues to be a member of the CII National Council. Ms. Shobana has been nominated as the Member of Executive Council & Finance Committee of Osmania University, Hyderabad.

Ms. Kamineni is also Vice-Chairperson of the KEI Group. KEI is involved with the development of Leisure facilities and Theme parks (TRAC India), Oil & Gas exploration (KEI-RSOS Petroleum), Power Projects (KEI Energy & Apollo Energy), Pharma GPO & exchange (IH-X.com).

Shobana Kamineni recognizes the leadership role that Apollo has to play in getting India fit and she helped steered the Group to promote ‘BILLION HEARTS BEATING' an NGO dedicated to educate and inform Indians on how to prevent heart disease. Ms. Kamineni received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the Stella Maris College, Chennai and has an accelerated Hospital Administration Diploma from Columbia University, New York. She has always been an avid sportsperson and was a national level squash player.
