The 220-bed Apollo Bramwell Hospital in Mauritius - a joint venture between the city-based healthcare major Apollo Hospital and British American Investment Co - went on stream on Thursday, the 20th of August, 2009.

A decade of liver transplantation

Children and adults, who were donors and recipients of liver transplants at Apollo Hospitals during the past 10 years, joined hands to mark a decade of liver transplantation in India. Dr Anupam Sibal, group medical director of Apollo hospitals, said: "Since 1998 more than 200 liver transplants have been done. In the last two years, 128 liver transplants have been carried out with 90 percent success rate and 100 percent in paediatric cases." "This life saving therapy has given hope to thousand with cases of liver failure. Our transplant unit received patients not only from India but from fifteen othercountries including US and Canada," Dr Sibal added. Doctors and hospital staff beamed proudly, as they recollected the journey of each of the patients that had received "not an organ but a new lease of life" at the event held at the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital Delhi.

Does a one-time check up help?

Regualr check ups are recommended, since a disease can develop at any stage in life. Further, a yearly repeat check, offers a review of any irregularity that was detected in the first check up.

Please report at the Apollo Wellness Centre, OPD First Floor, ‘A’ wing, between 8.00 a.m. and 10.30 a.m., Monday through Sunday with prior appointment.
For Breast Check please report at the Oncology OPD (basement-2)
Please come on an empty stomach with overnight fasting; however, you are adviced to have 2-3 glasses of plain water, to enable a full bladder to facilitate an ultrasound.
Kindly bring your morning samples of urine and stool if applicable. Sterilized containers for samples may be collected a day in advance from the Apollo Wellness Centre or from a chemist shop.
Please do not use deodorants, perfumes or talc if you opt for the Breast Check package.
Breast Check and Child Check do not require fasting.
In case you are taking any medication, please bring them with you.If you are a diabetic or a cardiac patient, please inform the Apollo Wellness Centre Reception immediately on arrival.
Pregnant ladies or those suspecting pregnancy shall not undergo X-ray, mammography or bone densitometry.
Dress Code: Since you will be required to change clothes frequently while undergoing various tests, you are advised to wear comfortable casual clothes and footwear.
10% discount will be extended on any additional investigations recommended by our consultants based on clinical examination during the Health Check.
15% Discount on DXA (Bone Densitometry) will be extended if done as a follow up of any Apollo Preventive Health Check.
Senior citizen’s discount is not applicable on Breast Check and Advanced Heart Check.
Validity period of all Health Check Packages is one month, within which period, review may be completed.
