Pediatric & Pediatric Surgery
The Apollo Pediatric Centre of Excellence provides comprehensive facilities for treatment of medical, surgical, developmental and behavioural problems for children right from birth upto sixteen years of age. It has specialists in each pediatric subspecialities to provide the best and latest treatment to its patients, backed by state of the art equipment and specially trained support staff to cater to the needs of children of different age groups. The centre has excellent support from experts in rehabilitation and physiotherapy, dietetics and nutrition, child guidance, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, immunology, transfusion medicine and other specialties.
Neonatal Intensive Care Units are tertiary care units to cater to premature babies, babies born after high risk pregnancies like IVF, neonatal emergencies and postoperative neonates. Pediatric Intensive Care Units similarly have tertiary care services for critically ill children and postoperative multispecialty surgical cases. Round the clock neonatal and pediatric critical care transport services are also available.
Pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology services include work up and follow up of children with chronic liver disease, chronic diarrhoea, recurrent abdominal pain, gastroesopageal reflux and intractable constipation, including endoscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP facilities.
Pediatric hemato-oncological disorders are treated as per the latest protocols offering best outcomes, backed by radiation and surgical oncology. Thalessemia patients have a dedicated ward. Pediatric surgery and pediatric urology services facilitate the correction of major congenital malformations in children and prompt management of surgical emergencies.
Pediatric nephrology services are supported by facilities for hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. The Pediatric congenital heart disease program offers non invasive diagnostic services, cardiac catheterization and cardiothoracic surgery. Pediatric neurologists provide care for children with developmental delay and chronic epilepsy.
All traumatic and non traumatic disorders of the growing skeleton are managed by pediatric orthopaedic surgeons. Developmental pediatrics manages patients with developmental delay, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism and learning disabilities backed by a comprehensive rehabilitation programme.
Nearly 3,000 neonates were seen in the outpatient clinics last year and nearly 700 were admitted. More than 10,000 pediatric patients visited Apollo’s Advanced Pediatric Centers of Excellence and we had near 3,000 pediatric admissions. Over 600 pediatric surgeries were performed within the hospital group.
Adolescent medicine addresses teenage concerns involving physical and physiological needs in a supportive environment. Psychological and behavioral counseling services address emotional, behavioral and scholastic problems of children. The pediatric dieticians are experienced in managing a variety of clinical conditions such as celiac disease that require skilled dietetic input. Immunization services are available based on the latest research and protocols.
