Cardiology & Cardiothoracic Surgery |
|
The Center of Cardiology and Cardio Thoracic Surgery at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals is one of the largest Cardiovascular groups in the world.
Ever since its inception, contemporary expertise has been gleaned by combining continuous training, education and clinical practice so as to provide innovative and scientifically based treatments for heart disease. With over 2000 heart surgeries, including complicated coronary artery bypass operations, surgery for all types of valvular heart disease including infant and neonatal heart surgery is performed with success rates comparable with the best in the world. The pediatric Congenital Heart Disease program offers non invasive diagnostic services, cardiac catheterizations and cardiothoracic surgeries. The modern procedures done at the Center have become the hallmark of the best in surgical cardiac care, including Port Access surgery, Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass (OPCAB), and Minimally Invasive Coronary Artery Bypass (MIDCAB), together with the future applications of robotics and laser surgery in the realm of minimally invasive heart surgery.
The cardiac treatment facilities provided include CABG techniques on the beating heart without the use of a heart lung machine, coronary artery bypass with mammary artery and redo bypass surgeries, Valve repair / replacement procedures, closed cardiac and thoracic operations, Repairs of PDA, ASD, VSD, TOF, adult coarctation, Redo Tetralogy, Fontan type of operations, DTGA and repair of Tricuspid atresia, Coronary and arteriovenouus fistula. The Cardiac Centers have dedicated cardiac theatres, (computerized monitoring systems, centrifugal pumps, etc.), well equipped intensive care units, specially trained nurses and experienced physiotherapists.
Cardiac Care Facilities The Apollo tertiary level cardiac care programs today also comprise of Cardiac diagnostics, non-surgical procedures, intervention cardiology and procedures including other parts of cardiac care such as the EPS or the electrophysiological program.
Imaging
- Nuclear Cardiology/Stress test
- Ultrasound 3D Echo - paediatric and adult
- MRI and 64-Slice CT Scanner
- Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization
Non-Surgical Procedures
- Interventional Cardiac Catheterization
- Percutaneous Angioplasty
- Atherectomy
- Rotoblader
- PFO Closure
Programs
- EPS (Electrophysiology Program)
- Atrial Fibrillation Ablation
- Ablations of Arrhythmias
- Ablation of Asymmetric Ventricular Cardiac (Patients experiencing multiple defibrillator discharges)
- Defibrillator Implants and Biventricular CRT Implants
- Cardiac Rehab - Phase I, Phase II, Phase III and Phase IV
Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery ICU The CTVS ICUs have a one to one nursing ratio, round the clock. They are well equipped with bedside colour doppler, echocardiography system, continuous oxygen supply, infusion pumps, defibrillator, ventilators, invasive as well as non-invasive pressure monitoring systems, temporary pace maker (transdermal as well as transvenous), intra aortic balloon pump, ABG (Blood Gas machine) and electrolytes analysis machine.
Electrophysiology Electrophysiological studies have been used for decades to evaluate cardiac arrhythmias and to have basic understanding of their mechanisms. Apollo Hospitals have conducted two workshops with international luminaries who have demonstrated various technical details of electrophysiological studies and Radio frequency ablations. We have capabilities for multisite pacing for the patients of heart failure and Dilated Cardiomypathy. Recently a bilateral pacing was performed for intermittent Atrial Fibrillation
. Interventional Cardiology The Cardiology Department is manned by senior Cardiologists trained in India and abroad. Coronary stenting is routine and performed by most of the invasive cardiologists. Patients with high risk and multi vessel involvement are also undertaken. The cardiologists perform over 4000 angiographies per year and nearly 1000 coronary angioplasties per year. Non-coronary intervention deals with variety of cardiovascular abnormalities. Subclavean, iliac, femoral and carotid artery balloon angioplasty and stenting are being performed. Vascular dissection and aneurysm repair are also conducted with covered stents.
Non Surgical closure of Heart Defects Patients with a hole in their heart, whether Atrial Septal Defect, small Ventricular Septal Defect or Patent Ductus Arteriosus can be closed effectively by Button or Amplatzer's Device or Coils.
Non-invasive Cardiology The Department of Non-Invasive Cardiology is one of the busiest departments of the Apollo Hospitals and has state-of-the-art facilities. An average of 2000 echoes and 1500 TMTs are done on a monthly basis. The echoes include stress echoes, dobutamine stress echoes, vascular dopplers, trans esophageal echoes, and fetal echoes..
